The air conditioner was fixed earlier this week, which made things much more pleasant in the house. I've made a lot of progress in physical therapy this week. We've been doing a lot with the weight machines. I've been pretty good about keeping up with the core strength work at home. I've also been working TKD stances and actually went to class on Tuesday. The only thing that's giving me some problems is the leg extension machine. We go up with both legs, then lower it with just the bad one...sometimes it hurts my shin right under the knee. Not too happy about that, but I'm sure it will go away as things continue to heal. We've kept working jumping and running in place on the mini trampoline and that has been feeling better as I get more confident in my leg strength. I'm still putting in time on the bike to get some cardio work too.

I also get some workouts from walking Rowlf. We've been taking him on some longer walks because it's the only way to tire him out. He hasn't caught on to fetching yet. He's getting pretty good with "sit" and "come" though. "Stay" is hit or miss. His ears are starting to stand up and he seems to get a little bigger each day. He went to the vet Tuesday and weighed in at 19 pounds.

Rowlf is keeping me busy...can't take my attention off of him for more than a few seconds when he's awake. He's very cute though...he tends to get very wild in the evenings and starts chewing on everything, particularly me and Steve. I'd like to take him on more walks during the day to burn off some more energy, but it's been very hot. When I take him out he's always in a hurry to get into the shade or back inside.

Physical therapy has been going well. I saw the doctor again today and he seemed pleased with my progress. Today at therapy we hit the leg press, hamstring curl, and leg extension machines pretty hard, so I was kind of sore after that. It's all part of getting my quad strength back though. Also did this odd skating thing. Basically a very slick piece of plastic that you slide back and fourth on. I've been doing some good time on the stationary bike to get some cardio work in. Over the next few weeks we'll start working on a fast walk to a light jog on the treadmill.

Our air conditioner has been running non-stop and it's still 83 degrees in the house. Steve called the landlord today, so hopefully it'll get looked at soon.

Rowlf

We got our puppy today. When I went to pick one out, one came up on sat on my foot. I figured I'd pick the one that picked me so that made it easy. Here's a picture of Rowlf. He's been very good boy so far.

Yesterday I got the official OK to stop wearing the brace. I was at physical therapy for three hours yesterday and got a pretty good workout. Did some new things with the exercise ball, worked a lot on walking, since my gait is all weird after walking my leg straight for 4 weeks. I also got in a 1/2 hour on the bike. It was nice to actually get my heart rate up. We also started working on stances for TKD.

Once I can hold a decent stance I plan to go back to classes in a non kicking capacity. I actually spent a lot of time at the school this week even though I wasn't doing a whole lot of movement. We a couple other instructors either out of town or with various things happening so I subbed for several classes. Plus we had a test last night, so I was judging at that. Steve tested for his red belt and did a pretty good job from what I saw. Since I was suppose to be judging other people though, I didn't see all that he did.

Tomorrow I'm picking up our new puppy. He's a German Shepard. We're naming him Rowlf, after the Muppet (the piano dog).
